Water Worries

Water worries, we all have water worries whether you are in New Zealand or America, there always has to be an issue with water around the world.

In fact we are facing one in Auckland right now! Water worries is a problem we face occasionally, but in some cases it is a devastating tragedy. We get most of our water from the water cycle, the water cycle is the process that the sun evaporates water, therefore turning it into water vapour and pouring down as rain and then that rain evaporates and it happens over and over again making it an endless cycle.

Manawatu River is one of the most filthiest rivers in the world and probably the most filthiest river in New Zealand. But unlike other rivers in New Zealand the rubbish isn’t a problem, this river flows through farmland and the lack of boundaries means that animals can poop in the river whenever they want.

An author called Rachel McMillan gave the reason to make this. He opened my eyes to what is happening in the world and I want to do something about it, this is the reason I made this.

Holy Week!

We are learning how to identify how Christians celebrate Holy Week.

Holy Week is a special week when Christians celebrate the week Jesus was in Jerusalem after being greeted with palms on Palm Sunday and that time he was in Jerusalem and ultimately leading up to his crucifixion.

Setting:
Jesus on a donkey being greeted with palms at the entryway of Jerusalem.
Jesus telling the people of Jerusalem to burn the palms.

When does Holy Week begin?
On Palm Sunday.

Mood:
The people of Jerusalem were excited.
Jesus is a bit nervous knowing that he is going to die.

The Donkey is a sign humility and peace.
Palm Sunday is the beginning of Lent.
Palms is a sign of peace and humility.
Jesus will rise from the dead on Easter Sunday.
Red and white signifies the blood and struggle Jesus went for us.

What happens on Thursday?
Jesus washes the feet of the disciples and the first Eucharist happened.

Holy Week is a sacred solemn week for Christians.
Through their liturgical celebration - People walk with Jesus that he suffered on his time on earth.
These liturgies draw us closer as followers of God.
We are drawn as whanau At Karaiti into these events (Stations of the Cross)
As if we were the ones actually there when it happened.
We are sharing part of the life and  love Jesus give us at this time.

Holy Thursday
Jesus and his friends gather together, for what we know now as the ‘Last Supper’.
Jesus gives himself to him for all those who are gathered together at the Last Supper.
He tells them, “do this in memory of me.”
He gives his love (aroha) in service by the washing of the feet.
He tells them, “Follow this example of loving service (Manaakitanga).”

Good Friday:
Jesus gives his life with love on the cross.
He gives Mary to John as his mother.
He forgives all those who have sinned against them.
He reconciles them.
He gives them the gift of passing from then to death.
